It has been a very exciting couple of weeks for Student Voice across the Trust, we have launched our brand new cycle! This round of Student Voice we are discussing recycling and how we can make our environment better.
To kick start this cycle Mrs Morris went on a litter pick at Yeo Valley and she found a surprising amount of litter on the playground and in the surrounding hedges. This was then made in to a FlipGrid and posted to all the schools for the children to watch and reply to. Mr Pitts followed this up with a chat with Mrs Pearce about what we do with our waste.
The children of Cornerstone started to get very excited about the topic of recycling and it showed lots of our children are very passionate about recycling and helping our environment. After an assembly talking about the global plastic problem, the children then had different discussions amongst themselves, their classes and their year groups.
We are now at the stage where all children have had their voice heard through debates, discussions and FlipGrid. It has been wonderful to see the students display compassion for the environment but also a pro-active approach to making improvements.
We now have a group of children who will move this forward and start to put into place some ideas on how to make our schools and communities more environmentally friendly and litter-free.
Watch out for more exciting recycling ideas.
